Elimination of sociopathic tendencies. -- Neural Tissue Tension Techniques: Decrease Pain, Increase Movement, Improve Nerve Function Recommended Reading: W. Giammatteo, Sharon (1998). Integrative Manual Therapy for the Upper and Lower Extremities (Giammatteo, Thomas Ed.) W. Giammatteo, Sharon & Kain, Jay B. (2005). Integrative Manual Therapy for the Connective Tissue System. Using Myofascial Release: The 3-Planar Fascial Fulcrum Approach (Giammatteo, Thomas Ed.) This introductory lab-intensive course is the culmination of thirty years of investigation, including graduate, doctoral, and post graduate clinical and scientific research into recovery and rehabilitation of the central and peripheral nervous system. The manual techniques presented in this course find solutions to generalized peripheral motor and sensory loss, pain and disability, Erb's and Klumpke's Palsy, torticollis, paraparesis and quadraparesis, and much more. This approach can be used on all patient populations, including orthopedic, neurologic, pediatric, geriatric, chronic pain, and more. Extensive lab time will be focused on clinical skills training. Practitioners will gain critical thinking in the development of short term and long term treatment plans for different patient populations. Outcomes: To assess and treat the pain and disability developed from neural tissue tension. To treat peripheral nerve injuries causing sensory and motor impairment. To treat spinal cord patients and clients with other neurologic presentations due to neural tissue tension. To treat cranial nerve dysfunctions causing pain, disability and neurologic disorders. A manual diagnostic tool to determine the primary nerve that is contributing to decreased function in other nerves. -- Lymphatic Series, Level One: Lymph Congestion Therapy Pre-requisites: None Recommended Reading: W. Giammatteo, Sharon & Giammatteo, Thomas (1997). Integrative Manual Therapy for the Autonomic Nervous System and Related Disorders W. Giammatteo, Sharon (1998). Integrative Manual Therapy for the Upper and Lower Extremities (Giammatteo, Thomas Ed.) W. Giammatteo, Sharon & Kain, Jay B. (2005). Integrative Manual Therapy for the Connective Tissue System. Using Myofascial Release: The 3-Planar Fascial Fulcrum Approach (Giammatteo, Thomas Ed.) Course Description: The lymphatic system is responsible for drainage of toxins in the body. When there is an overwhelming amount of toxicity, the drainage of lymph becomes congested and swelling occurs. What should occur in a healthy lymphatic system is the breakdown and elimination of toxins in the lymph fluid as it passes through the lymph nodes. There are many therapeutic approaches aimed at improving lymphatic flow such as massage-like techniques which simply push lymph fluid from one body region to another. Most of these approaches involve regular maintenance because lymph node function and the breakdown of toxins are not addressed. Integrative Manual Therapy for Lymphatic Drainage restores normal lymphatic function by promoting blood flow to and from the lymph node, decreasing muscle spasm and fascial tension around the lymph vessels and nodes, improving liver function and other related tissues to promote breakdown of toxins, and much more. This approach can be used to treat localized, regional, and total body swelling and lymphedema on all patient populations. These easy-to-use techniques will lead to immediate changes in girth measurement, range of motion, joint function, and improved energy level. Upon completion of this lab-intensive course, the practitioner will have many new tools to integrate into their daily clinical practice. Outcomes: Anatomy and physiology of the immune system. Techniques to decrease localized, regional, and total body swelling and lymphedema. A functional home exercise program to promote lymphatic drainage. Skin Therapy for wound care. Protocols for treatment of immune deficiency disorders. -- The Electrical Circulatory System Course Description: In the 1970's a Finnish scientist received the Nobel Prize for discovery and documenting a third Circulatory system: The Electrical Circulatory System. The evolution of mankind has included cardiovascular and cardiopulmonary systems. Today there is an Electrical Circulatory System. This practical seminar will promote health of the expanded Pacemaker system, which includes the SA Node, AV Node, Purkinje Fibers and Bundle of Hiss. Learn to augment the health of this system and regulate the Electrical arterial system, the Electrical venous, the Electrical renal system, the Electrical neural system and more. -- Drainage as a Tool for Recovery, Adrenal, Trigeminal, Collective, and more. (Advanced Course) Pre-requisites At least three CSIMT classes. -- Coronal Plane, Body of Images, The Essential Body, The Collective Uncounsious and the Mind (Advanced Course) (Upgrading the Genius Class) Description The material in this 3-day class comprises approximately 50% of the Genius Class (Winter School, March 2010) plus 50% new IMT based on the ever expanding body of information in the Coronal Plane Primary era. The effect of the Body of Images on life in the Coronal and Sagittal Plane is enormous. Students will learn how to treat the following: the Essential Body, Poshman Body of Energies to affect the mind, the Personal Body and Higher Consciousness Process Centers. These and other material have changed the way we practice manual therapy for elimination of pain, dysfunction, disease and disability. Pre-req: Treatment with CPP Transition Series 1 and 8, the Body of Images 1 through 8, and CPP 99 “Coronal Plane Invagination into Sagittal Plane by Others.” Once you have registered for this course you can request this packet from CSIMT in advance. -- Hyperplasia Syndrome, Level III Pre-req: HP1 (HP2 recommended) Hyperplasia, Level III is a remarkable course focused on assessment and treatment of hyperplasia which is increasing in 2011. During this course, special attention is focused on hyperplasia for: bone, joints, organs, and more. Changes in pain, mobility and function are simple and straightforward to attain with these techniques. Also during this course, the practitioner will learn how to combined material from Hyperplasia, Level I and II into larger protocols. It is recommended to bring your Hyperplasia, Level I and II study guides to this course. Higher consciousness energies pass through bone. A new approach called, 'Bone Gathering Consciousness' will be presented during this course in order to effectively and efficiently address Sagittal Plane hyperplasia dysfunction in bone. -- Bowenwork Module 1 The Bowen Technique (also known as Bowtech - the Original Bowen Technique and Bowenwork) is a dynamic system of muscle and connective tissue therapy that was developed by the late Tom Bowen in Geelong, Australia. Sometimes called the homeopathy of bodywork, it utilizes subtle inputs to the body, stimulating the body to heal itself, often profoundly. "Bowenwork is a very gentle, soft-tissue technique that resets dysfunctional tissue tension patterns, and supports the body in healing itself (Gustafson, 2010). It facilitates a state of relaxation by resetting the autonomic nervous system from being in sympathetic (fight/flight) dominance to parasympathetic (relax/restore) mode. In this phase, the internal organs function more optimally; with improved digestion and assimilation of nutrients, capillary circulation, tissue healing, and elimination of waste products from the body (Rentsch, 2007). "It is an unusual, minimalistic technique that involves applying a series of light, rolling moves over specific areas of muscles, fascia, tendons and ligaments, interspersed with short mandatory delays to allow the body to integrate the effects of the work. Bowenwork is often performed through loose, light clothing, so people do not need to undress, and no massage oils or lotions are used. Patients usually lie on a bed or massage table, or are seated comfortably to receive the work, which may be performed in a clinic, home or even workplace or sports setting." -S. Gufaston, BSN, RN Course Description: This is the first level in the Bowenwork series, covering the history of Bowenwork, the basic 'Bowen move,' and procedures for addressing the Neck, Upper Back, and Lower Back, the Kidney Procedure, Headache sequence, and instructions for client self-care and management.
